I live in St Louis, MO. Have recvd a "notice of hearing" on the Petition for Registration of Foreign Judgement in IL from my Ex-Husband. I was divorced about 14 hrs ago. Original Judgement in St Louis--- I had custody of my son. 18months ago--my son chose to live with his Dad in IL . After some legal battling-- my son moved to IL --and the judgement was modified (in St Louis).
Do I need to be represented at this hearing? What does a court base their ruling on.. whether jurisdiction should change from MO to IL ? I am sure that if the jurisdiction changes.. my ex is going to be filing some new modification -- They live 3 hrs away--and ofcourse it is better for me to NOT drive 3hrs, miss work, etc. AND--if jurisdiction changes-- I have to hire new atty... etc.
