Parent has lost the ability to stay in her own home, what can we do to help in terms of her financials. I heard that she would have to give up 80% of all assets. Is this true?

This is actually a very complicated question. Is the parent a Veteran? Does the parent need to qualify for Medicaid? Are there other people living in the home with the parent? What types of assets does the parent own? There are a lot of factors and it would be best if you sought the advice of an Elder Law Attorney to review the financials, provide you with your options and explain what steps to take.
