Four days ago I had my alignment checked and front brakes serviced at a mechanics shop. During their test drive the right brake caliper broke off and had to be replaced (their cost). Two days ago the left caliper was loose (bolt was mssing or rattled loose). What sort of actions can I take, I feel like my life was put at risk by this faulty work?

Recovering Beyond The Allowable Limit

I am suing the city police dept where I live for the wrongful death of my son. I was told by my attorney that I stand a good chance to win but the city insurance will not pay more that 3 million if awarded damages. My question is if a jury should award more than 3 million is there any way that I can collect the difference that the city's insurance will not cover or I am just stuck with collecting 3 million no matter what the jury awards?

My wedding vendors did not come through

I recently got married. My caterer was responsible to do the cleanup at the hall. The facility says we didnt clean up, the caterer said they did the cleanup. Unfortunately I've been charged $500 by the facility because they stand by the hall not being cleaned. Who do I turn to. I have a contract with the caterer to clean up the hall. Caterer has employees sign a form stating it was clean. Halll says it was not end of story... money charged to my card. I need help on who to turn to for return of my money.

My father was in a car accident two weeks ago. He was rushed to shock trauma. On the following day my mother and I tried to obtain our valuables and tags from the car. The towing co. holding the car would not allow us to do that. They said only the registered owner could do so. We gave up because my father was not doing well; and he has since passed. Now (2 weeks later) we are trying again. I called the insurance company and they said we need to call the state police. I called the state police and they said we can bring them the title and death cert. and they'll give us the release. We also called the towing company and they want us to give them $150 plus the title to the vehicle. In my opinion, they are steeling the car and we should not owe them anything other than the standard towing fee. Because if they had been at all cooperative when we were trying to get our property from the car in the first place we would have obtained our possessions and told them they could have the car, but now they are trying to profit from our loss which is causing us undue stress during our time of grief.

Do I have any legal rights or case against them and would it be worthwhile to pursue or should I just pay them and move on?

A year ago I was sued by my dentist for fees he says I still owed. I arrived at the hearing in district court and he did not. The judge dismissed the case. Now, a year later I am receiving collection notices with threats to take me to court again. Can he take me to court again when the case was already dismissed? Can he continue to harass me?

the foreclosure case was closed with prejudice. it was then refiled. my attorney said i was barred from doing anything because i did not file a complaint. now i learn that it should have not been refiled in the first place. the refiled suit is exactly the same suit that was terminated with prejudice. now. how do i get this new foreclosure suit that is illegally filed to end. what do i need to file to vacate or reverse? is the plantiff in contempt of court for refiling a settled and ajudicated case?

Signed Debt Agreement

I dated someone for 5 years, prior to our breakup he obtained a loan from a bank and gave me the money. My father passed and the bulk of the money went for funeral expenses, etc. We broke up 1 month after my dad's death and he (the ex) insisted on me signing a paper (which I drafted) stating the money was a loan and I would repay. A year later, I stopped making payments to him in June, because I honestly do not have the money anymore. He hired an attorney to ''motivate'' me to pay. How much validity does this Agreement between the two of have? If I had the money I would pay, but right now its impossible. If this goes to court or if he seeks other legal remedies, how much of a case does he have against me?

Ok so, long story short. i was in a rock band with some close friends. Things started getting serious and the band was showing great potential. With in 3 months of being a band, we were flown out to california to record and when we got home we were approached by savvy managers, who had a professional touring band themselves. We were asked to go on tour with them playing in front of 2000 kids a night, and really get our name out there. We needed a van, or we were not going to be able to go. My Father agreed to buy us a van, being that the band seemed to be going places and that a Record label would surely sign us. Each member of the band made several Verbal Agreements that my father would be paid in full, 11,000 as soon as the band was making money. Well, we went on tour and when we got back we signed a recording contract. A few weeks later i get kicked out of the band and then the band broke up. My dad is out 11 grand. I have asked for money many many times from the other members and have gotten nothing. can i take these guys to court?

A friend's father has recently been accused of lewd and lascivious conduct on a minor under the age of 12. He has not been convicted yet but the charges have not been dropped.

Recently, the neighborhood that he lives in has been putting up flyers of his mugshot saying ''Stay Away Kids! He's Our Neighbor!''

Does this fall under a public defamation of character considering the stipulations in effect currently? (I. E.: Being charged but not convicted of it. No real sound evidence that he did it.)

suing over abuse and theft

o.k. my issue is complicated, but in short: my father abused me since I was a kid. He stole a million dollar trust my grandparents set up for me. He also kept an separate inheritance away from me that was legally mine at 18, by lying to me about it and threatening me. Because I didn't have the money I would have recieved from my inheritance I couldn't take care of a horrible health problem I had, from which I am now permantently damaged. Through abuse he also caused my sister�s suicide at age 15�a loss which destroyed me.

I want to sue him for hurting me so badly. He's worth about 25 million.

What can I do? Please help. I�m sure this is a clich�, but I really don�t care about the money. I just want a bit of �justice.�

Animal Neglect

The SPCA has been here twice in 2 days, asking for documents and asking questions. I feel that they are going beyond their boundaries but am worried that they are going to win. I run a TB horse rescue and have many thin horses out in my pastures. A recent disgruntled boarder/business partner called the SPCA to report me for not providing for the horses. I have supplied all required documents but now the officer is asking for more and telling me that he will be back tomorrow. I am worried that they are going to confiscate some of the horses because of their poor condition since they took pictures today..but these horses have been here a short time and I am supplying, feed, hay, pasture, water and shelter. I am looking for advice on how to protect myself to avoid confiscation.

I have a friend that works for a law firm that represented a client that was prosecuted and is now in jail. The friend is receiving personal letters from the client w/out the firm knowing it. Is this legal? She is wanting to use the letters with his consent to put in a local paper, stating why he did what he did. Is there any law that would prohibit this activity?

Harassment

My boyfriend's grandmother calls my work periotically to have me relay messages to her grandson because he will not talk to her and has changed his number, i told her she may not do this, she already called my work and spoke to someone in HR department and told a lie, said i was sendind hate mail throough my email which was proven wrong. my question is, can i do anything legally to stop her from calling, i've asked my work to block her number but they were unable to do it. Is there a letter that can be written or some way i can show them this behavior will not be tolorated? she is calling from North Carolina and I am in Virginia.
