Ms. Towne’s law firm, Charlotte Towne, P.A., is a South Florida based boutique entertainment and intellectual property law firm located in Dania Beach. The law firm of Charlotte Towne, P.A. handles every aspect of music, art, fashion, internet, copyright, and trademark law ranging from drafting and negotiating contracts and licensing matters to copyright and trademark registrations to litigating complex breach of contract, copyright infringement, and trademark infringement matters.
Ms. Towne received her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Business and Entertainment Industries from the University of Miami. Charlotte continued her focus on entertainment, the arts, and intellectual property while attending and earning her law degree from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She served as President of the NSU Sports and Entertainment Law Society (SELS) for two years where she orchestrated the 1st Annual NSU Sports Law Symposium, which recently celebrated its 7th consecutive year. While in law school, Ms. Towne also worked as a law clerk for two summers at an entertainment boutique law firm, Bradley, Carlisle and Robinson, where she gained valuable transactional and litigation experience involving entertainment and intellectual property law matters.
Before opening the law office of Charlotte Towne, P.A., Ms. Towne lived and worked in Los Angeles where she earned two film credits: Music Supervisor for the feature film “Window Theory” and Music Coordinator for the feature film “Dark Streets.” She also managed an extensive music publishing catalogue dealing with licensing, copyright administration, collection of royalties, and international music publishing matters for Los Angeles based music producer, songwriter, film music supervisor, and film music composer, George Acogny.
Ms. Towne is licensed to practice in the state of Florida and the U.S. District Court Southern District of Florida. She has been an active member of the Florida Bar Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law section (EASL), serving on its Executive Council as Student Liaison '06-'07, Leadership Committee Chair '07-'08, Secretary '11-'12, and Executive Council member '12-'14. She is also a member of the ABA Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries and ABA Section of Intellectual Property Law.
Ms. Towne has spoken as a panelist alongside esteemed entertainment attorneys from all over the country at the ABA Forum on Entertainment and Sports Industries Annual Meeting. She has also spoken as a panelist at Florida Bar Entertainment, Arts & Sports Law Section sponsored CLE’s and Entertainment & Sports Law Symposiums at both Nova Southeastern University and St. Thomas University. Ms. Towne spoke as a panelist at the upcoming 25th Annual North American Entertainment, Sports & IP Law Conference. Lastly, Ms. Towne regularly volunteers her time as a speaker at local schools and colleges in the South Florida area in addition to music industry programs such as IDA Artist Development Program, co-run by Grammy award winning artists and producers John Secada, Mark Hudson, Rudy Perez, and David Frangioni.
