99-001071  DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, BOARD OF MEDICINE vs JOHN DAVID YOUNG, M.D.  (1999)
Division of Administrative Hearings, Florida Filed: Mar. 05, 1999
Whether disciplinary action should be taken against Respondent's license to practice as a physician, license number ME 67443, based on a two-count violation, Sections 458.331(1)(m) and (t), Florida Statutes, as alleged in the Administrative Complaint filed against Respondent in this proceeding.Respondent performed complete physical examination on emergency room patient; no indication further diagnostic studies needed; treatment within standard of care even though patient died from pulmonary embolism within a few hours of discharge.
00-000245  DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, BOARD OF MEDICINE vs JAMES ANASTASIO HALIKAS, M.D.  (2000)
Division of Administrative Hearings, Florida Filed: Jan. 13, 2000
The issue in the case is whether the allegations of the Administrative Complaint filed by the Petitioner are correct and, if so, what penalty should be imposed against the Respondent.Disciplinary action by another state licensing board results in action by Florida Board of Medicine. Petitioner should suspend Respondent`s Florida licensure until Respondent`s Minnesota license is unencumbered.
99-003566  DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, BOARD OF MEDICINE vs FREDERICK K. VONTZ, M.D.  (1999)
Division of Administrative Hearings, Florida Filed: Aug. 20, 1999
The issues to be resolved in this proceeding concern whether disciplinary action should be taken against the Respondent's license to practice medicine based on allegations that the Respondent violated the standard of care, specifically Subsection 458.331(1)(q) and (t), Florida Statutes, by allegedly inappropriately or excessively prescribing legend drugs and by failing to practice medicine with that level of care, skill and treatment recognized as acceptable by reasonably prudent physicians under similar conditions and circumstances. It must also be determined, if any of the alleged violations are proven, what, if any, penalty is warranted.Petitioner agency showed that Respondent violated physician`s standard of care by not ordering additional blood count tests, which might have shown progressive infection, and by not transferring patient to critical care facility sooner.
99-001417  DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, BOARD OF MEDICINE vs ERNESTO SINDA COLINA, M.D.  (1999)
