i have 17 days to respond. i do owe the debt, but i have no money to pay it at this time. i also am trying to keep my home from foreclosure. i have an eight year old car, not paid off. i have no assets, or i would have gladly paid all my bills. i am thinking bankruptcy, but need to talk to an attorney about that, too.
You should definitely be talking to a bankruptcy lawyer in your State. With no assets, and that type of debt, you should qualify for bankruptcy and perhaps a loan modification. The bankruptcy Court in New Jersey has a Loan modification program, but you did not put where you reside.
