The Illinois school my child attends recently sent me a copy of his IEP from the meeting I attended three weeks ago. I was surprised, upon opening it, to find that it includes a "behavioral plan" NOT discussed at the meeting. I do not agree with all the parts of the plan set forth. I am wondering if I have the right to ask that it be revised with my input. What would I need to do to get that done? If they refuse to revise, do I have the right to do anything to try to persuade them to?
You have the right to call for another IEP meeting or take it to arbitration if you so desire. The rule is that you sign the first IEP, but not others. There should have been a Parent's Rights document with the IEP. If not, complain about that.
