Returning wedding set?
I have been in a relationship with my
boyfriend for almost four years. We
lived together for one year and then I
asked him to marry me. We went out
and got a wedding set in both our
names, but he is the one who made
the payment. He then started to
drink heavy and verbally abuse me. I
do not want to marry him now, and I
was told that I did not have to return
the rings after having them for two
years now. I was told that they are
considered a gift. He has never asked
me to marry him, but still paid for
I have been asked to donate my eggs to a couple. The woman is a U.S. citizen but the man is not. The donation will take place out of the country. I was told that if a child resulted I would legally be the mother and would need to go through an adoption process. I have donated before (in the U.S.) and my involvement ended with the egg retrieval. Wondering if I should even consider this out of country option? Am I getting myself into a legal mess (I do not want to end up being responsible for or raising a child right now in my life).
Common Law Marriage
I've had a live-in relationship with the same man 15plus years. He has been the full provider and I have been a stay at home ''housewife''(no kids). We are splitting up (due to his unfaithfulness and lies) and I need to know if I have any rights? Are we in a common law marriage? We own a home and he pays for everything. Thank you
Loss of Parental Rights
if father decides not to comply with case plan and his parental rights are removed, will it be valid in all 50 states and what if him and mom reunite later what are the potential repercussions of loss of rights and non completion of the case plan?
I live in TX. I just left my husband after 2 years of marriage, lived together for a total of 9 years, the first 7 not married and did represent ourselves as married. He was mental and emotionally abusive and controlling. He has threatened alimony because does not and never has worked, claims he is disabled, but he is just lazy and refuses to work, mooches off the women of TX. I am the fourth. He has been denied disability benefits because he can work and a judge told him so. He has no proof of any disability and no benefits but he says he is entitled to live just as we did all those years before I ''threw him in the ditch and left him there.'' Does he have any chance of getting alimony? I barely make enough to survive and now I have to pay rent and I will not be able to pay alimony, nor do I feel I should have to continue to support a lazy deadbeat who can work. I also need to know if I have the right to go back for my things that I could not get out of the house. I bought the house, in my name, but the land it is on is his mother's. What if he has destroyed my belongings? Please advise. Thank you very much.
At time of my husbands first divorce, his ex-wife signed her half of house over to their son in a quit-claim deed. He now states that at the sale of the house he has to give son $50,000.00. This info not in quit-claim deed, will it /should it be noted in the dicorce records?
fathers right to have child bear his last name
I have two female children One is adopted and is 4 the other is my biological daughter age 1.5 yrs. We were seperated when she was born and both of them have their maternal grandmothers maiden name. I was never consulted about my daughters name or even told when she was born until after the fact and the birth certificate was issued. My ex wife is now changing her last name to her mothers maiden name also. I want to petition the court to have both of them legally changed to my last name. This will be the third last name for the mother in 5 years.Living in VA what do you think the odds are of success? I do not have any criminal background a good job and a great relationship with my kids. I am currently paying about 1600 dollars a month child support and I am current with that. My final divorce decree was dated Feb25th 2008
child support laws
I have joint custody of my son with my X. He is turning 19 and is in College. He lives with his dad who has the primary physical residence because I am deploying. I am wondering what age limit does support stop. There is no court order for support. Can he take me to court for support now even though I am giving him money for my son monthly? He does not support my son because my son has a job and is going to college. I support my son more than my X does. What can I do?
Divorce has been undone
I got divorced March 2007. Last week, I was notified that it was undone. My ex-husnand did it because he doesn't like the amount of child support he has been paying. Why would they undo the divorce and not just go back to court for the child support issue?
Will I get the monetary award first?
my stbx refinanced our marital home (my name was never on the mortgage but I am entitled to the equity during the course of our marriage) and then allowed the home to go into foreclosure after taking the money and running to another state. Well I saw on the Md. case site that the bank's attorneys have filed a civil case against him. My divorce hearing is Feb. 22 which will be b4 the foreclosure case goes to court.
My question is that if the courts make a monetary award in my favor first, then the banks get an award, will I be paid first since my case came to court first?
Procedures for legal separation while away from US
A friend of mine is currently married but separated from her spouse. She would like to get a legal separation and eventual divorce; but the problem is she and her spouse both live and work overseas (Bahrain). She has not shared the same residence with her spouse in over 6 months. Is there anything she can do legally to be separated while being overseas with out coming to the states? Or does she need to return to the states to file for separation and divorce? The marriage state was Florida, by the way.
