my apartment was damaged during one of the storms in september 2008. i had to move in with my mom or find housing elsewhere until my apartment can be repaired. my landlord made me pay my rent in september to hold my apartment is what she told me. i have received a notice to pay my rent for october or i will be evicted. i need to know am i suppose to be paying rent for a place that i can't live in?

Eviction Notice
Rent has been late a few times, always offering to pay bank's fee. I owe $200 sewer bill, which was sent to collections because that's how they do it here when you are a tenant. I 1st rec'd a voice mail from ll in Afganistan, but his mom handles things for him. Msg said I had to pay that night (day 5 of rent being due) for both rent & sewer or consider it my 30 day notice. I didn't pay cuz I was waiting for my check to come in. The next day ll's mom came up & gave me a verbal notice of 30 days. I asked why they'd get rid of someone who pays rent every month & she said she had to go by his wishes. I wasn't about to argue in the middle of the street so I said ok. Got another v/m from ll saying he was getting really ''po'd'' I hadn't paid yet so gave me another amount of days to be out. Then I received a registered letter notice which I haven't picked up yet cuz they are usually closed when I'm free. Next day I found note taped to door giving me 10 days notice. I have a standard lease stating I pay all utilites & after 1 year it goes month-to-month. Rec'd another call from ll saying he'd use sec dep toward sewer bill then I pay rent & after walk thru I get bal of sec back. Are they allowed to give me only 10 days notice?

have rented home 3yrs owner is tearing down house for new got husband sign 60day moveout up 10/7 cant find sutible housing have 3 kids set in school pd less rent for area cuz of rebuild no rental agreement.no receipts only verbal comunications can we plead hardship and the day we didnt move was verbally herassed all wkend please help!
apartment rental lease.
Rented apt. in 2006. Gave notice and moved April 2007. Collection agency started calling 9/2008 stating Owed 3,000.00 + for violation of lease. Purchased condo and gave manager written notice prior to vacate, rent was paid up to date and vacated apt. on date indicated in written notice. What should I do to prevent the cinstant calling from this collecion company?
Renting a Foreclosure
I am currently renting a home on a 12 month lease contract. The home owner just informed me that the house is foreclosing. I have 6 mo. left on the lease, am I able to break it early to find another place to live now? And should I be paying rent if he is not paying on the mortgage?

Tenant window AC unit in rental
Tenants added large window ac unit. I rent a small house with a small ac unit. My tenants have placed a second large ac unit in the kitchen window. My electric is included in the rent. Can I charge them for the increase in the electric bill with the new large unit they have added? Does this unit stay when they move out? Can I evict them. There was not provision for this in the lease. Can I demand that they remove this unit.

My apartment complex forged my signature on a few documents in cluding my renewal lease. Is there something or somewhere i should go from here
Apartment question
My phone jacks in my new apartment do not work. Am I financially responsible or is the apartment complex to have phone service technician come to my apt to correct problem?? Please help. I appreciate your time in advance.
fix coast on lease
When I moved into my apartment comoplex, I paid for water as I used it. Two months later my landload decided to charge a fixed rate for water at 3x what my monthly bill was and that coast is added on to my reantal agrement. Can they do that? Looks like a way of raising my rent to me.
constructive eviction
Above my carport there is a hive of bees. I've notified the management at least 4 times over the last 2.5 months and still the bees are thriving. I am concerned for my family's health- including that of my 3 month old baby! Am I able to break my lease and leave?

I have recieved a court ordered eviction. My principal witness became very hostile and altered some very critcal info, and refused to suply other info critical to the Judges decision. Her supervisor has since recanted her story and the original source has now come forward to supply the facts that would result in the opposite decision by the Judge. How do I obtain a stay and reopen this matter for review?
safe living environment for a renter
I live in a section 8 approved apartment complex however I am not part of that program. A wk ago someone shattered the window on my boyfriends truck (he's in the military&in Kuwait until 2/09) they also attempted to break into my apartment by doing the same to my livingrm window. I work nights and do not get home until 3a.m. I've expressed my concern for my safety to the manager& I inquired about transferring to a vacant unit w/in the complex which is in a more well lit area and in the line eye of a surverylance camera. I was denied and when I asked what the reason was I was told there wasn't one. in addition to the lighting in the area where I currently park is INOP leaving me absolutely no sense of security whatsoever in my comings and going to work. Do I have any rights at this point? Is the management company not legally obligated to provide me with a safe living environment? I am affraid to be in my own home especially at night how can the mgmt. company be allowed to deny my a safe place to live with no reason why?

Stayed at a hotel, truck damaged by water washing off roof, no gutters, it has made my clear coat finish come of, all over my truck. It's a 97, 63,000 miles, mint condition.

My fiancee is getting transferred for work. He just signed a lease on the apartment on 08.01 and got notice of the transfer on 08.15 and he has to be in florida on 08.29. We paid a 1200 sec deposit and 780 for the month of august. I understand we have to give 30days notice but since he did not have that kind of notice himself is it possible to not have to pay for September since he is going to be out of there before then. I was told that there may be a way to just have them keep the sec. deposit and have it be a clean break but the property manager stated the because of the Fair Housing Act they could not do that. Which did not make sense since the Fair Housing act has to do with discriminating against someone and I do not see how that applies here. Please advise as what his options are. The prop manager said the only thing he could do was work out a payment plan to pay off september and the rest of the termination fee. (they will be using the sec deposit to cover that). THANKS!!
exempt from payment of rent
If there are things in the apartment that have gone unrepaired are you legally able to hold monies for payment of rent? Some of the repairs include a leaking ceiling which has fallen in, in some areas causing carpet to be saturated with water. I can't run the air conditioner because it also leaks causing the carpet to be wet.
