My health

My neighbor keeps me awake all day with a barking dog and all night with his very bright light that shines into my bedroom. It has been causing me to have seizures and migraines. What can I do about them? I am on SSD due to seizures and have had them well under control until the last month when they started leaving the light on all night and let the dog bark all day. I need my sleep. Can someone help me?

State of Virginia Regional Jail officer

An inmate made allegation againt me. The inmate stated I brought, tobbaco,crack cocaine in the jail for money. The lie detetor operation had a list of 6 question asking about contraband, receiving money from some people I do not know. I fail the test. The evidence that the jail has is cigarette lighter, empty cigarette pack, and a cigarette that appeared to have been smoke. No crack coicane has been detected. The IA officer at the facility has advise me that he was going to send the contrandband to a lab to be finger printed. I feel that the jail supended me based only on the lie detector test. The only evidence, the IA officer has, is an Inmate statement. The IA officer has not done any investigation, tangible evidence; nothing is in the order that the Inmate said it would be and it is made up. Please help me to see what grounds to stand on legally. I know , I need to contact the Commissioner!

Possible discrimination

I recentely took over another position at work, due to a woman having to go on FMLA for surgery. The job is better than my previous position, better hours. The lady that was doing the job before was paid more than me, but they never gave me a raise. And I believe her FMLA has expired (12) weeks. So my boss said that the job was mine, due to her coming back to work with to many restrictions. I was finishing up at work on Friday, when the lady came in to talk to our boss. I said hi and she was pretty cold towards me, she was upset that I took her job. I left work, and about three hours later recieved a call from my boss. She said the lady was coming back to work on Monday, and she was getting her old job back. She also said that I needed to call her right away to discuss what shift I am now going to be on. The bottom line is I want first shift and this position. I bent over backwards to help them, and now I am being treated this way. All three of my bosses are female, and they treat us guys at work terrible. I am wanting to know what are my options here, I did not call her back yet to discuss another shift. As I am only interested in this shift. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

while on a break at work i decided to take a nap. i was woken up about 10 minutes later and told that i was not allowed to sleep during my paid break time. next to me was another girl sleeping and across from me was a gentleman sleeping. they were not woken up. i was told i was the only one woken up because i was wearing ear muffs due to our breakroom being so loud. My supervisor informed me that another employee complained that I was sleeping. Im pretty sure I know who it was ( a husband and wife couple) and i feel as if i was discriminated against because the wife is upset that I not her ''friend.'' Others wear earplugs in the break room without getting repremanded and i wondered why i could not wear ear muffs if others could wear ear plugs.

I was terminated by Commerce Bank in VA. I have fighting for the past 8 months trying to get a copy of an ''action plan'' and personal effects from the bank. The ''action plan'' banned my religion and segargated me from the rest of the staff. I have filed with the EEOC. I was told by the bank that everything was mailed to me via UPS in August 2006. The bank doesn't have teh tracking number nor can they prove that they mailed it. Can I sue for loss of use, destruction of evidence, spoliation etc? Among the personal effects are letters from my deceased grandmother.

Ok, I live in a trailer park and signed a lease. The lease said we can have pet but have to register them at the office. However not long after I moved in I got a not in my MAIL box saying no more pets. People can keep the current pets they have but no more after that. It says in the lease one pet per household but theres people here that have 3 dogs per household. I guess my question is can they change something in the middle of a lease? I want to get a dog for pet therapy. Shes not yet certified but I plan on getting her certified. Odd question I know but I need to know where I stand legaly. Thanks so much for your time.

Pregnancy discrimation

told that I need to schedule my ob doctor appt around company time or lose my job, my doctor recommended I go part time due to high risk in pregnancy (written documentation), told I cant and that I should find another job, number of important job responsibilties given to less experience person that I trained. Person who has been employee shorter time than me recieved a bigger bonus and does that same job I do, but less. was told that once i have my baby my position is not promised and as far as a rehire they will see where they are as a company. Am I being discrimated against????

My friend and I (both age 17) have

recently been experiencing

problems at a local bookstore. We

are told by the manager that we

are only allowed to look at a single

book between the two of us. We

were yelled at and called ''rude,

disrespectful, little kids'' because

we look at more than one book at a

time, and we leave them in neat

piles (after being told not to re-

shelf books).

We finally told the manager this

was age discrimination, and the

manager admitted to it (using the

word ''discrimination.'')

We are furious about how we are

being treated, and we would like to

take action. We understand that

we are minors, but we will definitely

enlist the aide of our parents and

whomever else it requires.

We are wondering what the

appropriate action to take would

be.

is it illegal to treat an employee differently because of national origin? i am american born and i do not recieve the benefits that employees born outside of the u.s. do. example, they get free transportation to and from work and suffer no consequences for not showing up for work. i on the other hand, get written citations if i am late and also do not drive but must find my own transportation.

Don't know if I need a laywer

I just turned 18 in Feb 21 and was charged w/ a misdemeanor when i was 17 in earlier feb '08. I recently started working in a new job and was suspended becuse an open case came up on my records. My legal aid is trying to fight to get it removed from my records since I was a minor and have no criminal records. My job told me I was suspended till I bring paper work stating that the case it closed and suggest I hire a lawyer to try to get it closed quicker. My next court date is on May 27, 2008. Is it worth me hiring a lawyer that may or may not be able to get me an earlier court date (since my actual one is only like 3 weeks from now) or should I just wait till May 27 ?
