I injured myself at work last week, a box fell on me and hit me in my eye. My employer said to me that i was getting old and as time goes by i was going to have more acidents because i was old. He then told me i have one month left of work. He had someone at work apply for social security for me to retire. I know that i am still ale to work and so not want to retire. What rights do i have?

Injured and discriminated against.

Reported 3 injuries in course of 4 years, the last injury I was admitted to E.R .and out for 1 month. employer never ever offered medical assistance whats so ever. as it provides medical benefits to ONLY Resident Managers ONLY. Also when supervisor sprained ankle,he received all the proper medical assistance as transportation provided by the manager. I continued working thru my injuries and the extreme pain as I daily complained to employer. Currently iam still hurting of extreme pain on lower right side of back.I was promised rent free living and pay raises but when employer hired new employee, employer told me that I was no longer going to receive the rent free and pay raises as they promised after all. So when i requested for a 30 day leave due to my fathers health they granted my request but only to get discharged for non payment of rent upon my return from my leave.My rent had always been paid as manager allowed for rent to be paid in payments or in full for the employees that paid rent and if you employee was white then you get rent free but regardless, my rent was always paid and she never had problem with it. It all began because i found out about workers comp and tried to pursue it as they never offered anything.

CEO gives negative reference

I was risk manager for a hospital in which my job was eliminated due to down structuring. I have recently applied for a risk manager position at another hospital within the same system. I have learned that the previous CEO has given me a negative reference as being a ''trouble maker'' which is I feel is unjustified. Is there anything I can do? I'm 62 years old.

Religious Discrimination, title VII

My daughter joined a junior cheerleeding program in our area. By joining this program she is required to go to cheer camps on sundays. Because they are held on sundays, we have informed the head of the organization that our child will miss on of the camps because she is enrolled in a religious class on sundays. They advised that they would not grant our request to miss the camp unless we provided documentation from the church and if we did not provide we could face consequences. Can you advise me and if they have the right to request these documents from us.

''Casual day''

Every day at my job is casual day. Nearly everyone in the office, daily, wears jeans, jean shorts, khaki shorts, tennis shoes, cutoff ''muscle'' shirts, etc. I am new to the company and I just recently graduated from a local University. After 3 months of dressing nicely, I decided I wanted to fit in and feel less like I was trying to be ''super employee.'' So, I decided to wear jeans 2-3 days a week. After one week of doing such, I was immediately reprimanded and told that the CFO passed it down to my boss to pass down to me that I need to dress professionally because I am too young in my career. In other words, he doesn't want a young ''punk'' working with him. Everyone else is allowed jean shorts and muscle shirts, but I have to wear nice business casual clothing every day, making me feel like a complete outcast. I was also told that once I have established myself in the company, I can dress like everyone else. In other words, after I work for 2-3 years, I can dress like everyone else (even though other newcomers, such as a new secretary, wears jeans and t-shirts regularly).

If someone askes on a public blog if my name is ''Joe Bloggs'' but I am actually female in real life and my profile says so, do i have any course of action through Defamation or False Light?

Isn't the asker of the question, assuming and implying I'm male, when I'm female? Is this offensive enough?

Sexual Discrimination

For over a year I asked my employer about a managerial/supervisory position in which I was interested in. I was already doing part of the job, and wanted to do all of it. Everytime my employer told me that there wasn't room in the company for someone to be in that managerial/supervisory role. I finally got fed up with not being advanced in my job and left the company. Within 6 weeks of leaving the company they brought in a man to do the job I had been asking for, for almost a year. The man they brought in was a former employee of the company, and I don't doubt he could do the job. I handled part of the responsibilities for the job already, and during audits in the year I always came through without a single problem or issue. In addition, there are only 7 women that work within the organization of approximately 75 people, and none of the positions are management positions. I feel that the company purposely keeps women out of managerial/supervisory positions.

While seeking a new Primary Care Physican for my child, I was asked for information on the child's birth father. When I stated that the information was unavailable, I was asked if I was married, to which I answered ''no''. I was then told that it did not seem like it would ''be a good fit'' for my child to be a patient at this practice. Is there a law covering this type of discrimination?
