property lien
Had mild flood damage work done on my home, and was given the bill of $800. Paid it in full, and receipt reflected $0 balance due.
Next day, received a bill for an additional $416 when they took the equipment out. I did not agree to this, nor do I understand their reasoning as the employee doing the work admitted they had not extracted enough water initially, and that was the reason they kept their equipment in place.
Now the owner of the business, is ranting on the phone about ''placing a lien on my home'' and getting me for thousands of Dollars. I've had similar work done on my home before and paid less than a third of what they are trying to charge me.
Question is this: The company was authorized to do $600 in repairs on the property, they did over $800, I paid it, received a $0 balance due receipt, and then they are demanding another $400+ on the following day. Am I at risk? And what is my best course of action in addition to turning them into the Better Business Bureau? Thanks for any direction.
Criminal or Civil?
My daughter's roommate had her boyfriend's car parked in the driveway or our home. The boyfriend left town and the girlfriend (the roommate) decided to move back home to another state. The girlfriend says she tried contacting him to let him know that she was leaving, but he didn't return the calls. Well, when the roommate left she said that my daughter could do what she wanted to with the car, so she sold it. The police are investigating it as a stolen car. Is my daughter in trouble criminally?
