license questions
I�m in the process of acquiring a contractor�s license as an electrician. I am currently working on a client�s house, and I kept the price under the $500.00 limit in accordance the CSLB guidelines so there won�t be any problems with my license and have it revoked. I signed an agreement for that amount, and Yes! I�m getting stiffed. While doing this job I come to find out that the owner, is doing this work as an owner builder and subbing the work out to the lowest bidder. I was one of the lowest of course.
Now, My question is, after I finish this work, can this person still make a claim against me, by claiming either the work was not done to his perfection, or if the inspectors reject work that was either preformed by me or not?

If the owner chooses to do so, he can make a claim against you since, under your contract, you are held to the standard of the industry regarding the work that you have done. While it is very likely that you will win, the complaint could hold up the issuance of your license if the contractor's board is made aware of it.
I would recommend that, if possible, you complete the work and get the building inspection sign-off. Then, after the license is issued, if you still have not been paid, file a small claim action.
