Someone familiar with the rules governing paralegals in Hawaii should answer your question, but your post remains open for four weeks. As a general matter without regard to jurisdiction, paralegals can perform many functions, such as research, preparing forms, investigating claims, etc. Paralegals generally cannot represent clients in court and they cannot generally advise clients about matters where they would make a legal decision. This is a rough rule of thumb, and regions could differ from one another on specific regulations, protocols, or customs. Good luck
