Landlord - Tenant
Does signing an application for an apartment qualify as a contract in that a security deposit accompanying the application will not be returned if the application is approved and then the future tenant decided they do not want the apartment?

i will have been divorced 2 yrs this march. my ex was sick with a kidney disease and recently died in a car accident. judge gave him 2 yrs to get my name off the house. he still hadnt done it. now that he has passed away am i liable for the amount owed on the house?
