I have found out about this lawsuit against myself only through receiving a letter from a local lawyer alerting me to this and offering a free consultation. Attached was a court code that let me validate this through an AZ court government lookup.
The plaintiff has not yet had any filings posted. I assume this is because I have not been served. I wish to fight Cavalry Portfolio on this attempt at an invalid collection. I do not know and have not had any communication with them ever. The only knowledge I have of them from this starting is from a cursory internet search.
I have not spoken to any lawyers yet, but would like to be proactive with fighting Cavalry on this bogus suit. I have very limited funds to spend as I am a college student but have the gumption to fight this on my own. Of course basic advice is welcome and what I am seeking.
You should consult an attorney regarding this debt. Nothing can happen unless you are served so time is on your side. Your attorney can then determine potential defenses or potential offensive maneuvers to try.
My mother died with a $16K balance on a unsecured credit card. The card was issued on her credit. My father was not an authroized user. She had no estate, but was the joint owner of her home with my father (who survives).
Q1. Is my father responsible for her $16K debt?
Q2. Can a lean be placed on the family home by the credit card company, eventhough the card was unsecured debt?
Traffic Violation In Seattle, WA
It was my first time driving in America. I was learning to drive this morning using my roommate's car and got pulled over.
I received 3 violations:
- No valid driver license: ($550)
I dont have a USA driver license but I have an International Driver License. I was cited for $550 and checked online where it says the fine should be $250. Can i contest it?
- Expired Tab ($216)
Apparently, the car has an expired tab. Am i liable to pay for this fine? since I am not the owner of the car
- No proof of insurance. ($550)
I didnt know that an insurance is required and have no idea that my roommate's didnt have an insurance on his car.
I cant afford to pay the ticket since it cost $1316.
What will happen if I didnt pay the ticket? If the ONLY consequences is can never get a driver's license then I have nothing to worry about.
I tought he was being nice lending me his car so i could learn to drive, now i regretted it so much.
Thanks so much for your time, I appreciate your help/advice.
