mental illness as a reason for tuition reimbursment

i attended medical school for 2 years. durring that period i was suffering from a mental illness (severe anxiety) and was being treated by a psychiatrist. i ended up missing so many classes due to the illness that i did not pass my classes. i now owe over $100K and got nothing for it. if i could get my doctor to confirm my mental illness is there any way that i could void my contract with the college due to my inability to attend classes? has this been done before?

Educational law

The teacher contract in a public school setting states that all observations must be upfront and in the open. However, the school has installed security cameras in the gymnasium and has been using said cameras to secretly observe teachers. Recently a teacher covered the camers with construction paper with permission from the union and with administrative knowledge. Now that teacher has been suspended from duties with pay. Does the teacher have any recourse in this?

Searching a childs cell phone

My daughter's cell phone was taken away because she was texting in class. The vice principal took it away, would not release it to me that afternoon and required that I attend a meeting in order to get it back. Then the next day he required that my daughter come in, unlock her phone and he read all of her text messages. She gave him NO REASON to read them (she was not accused of cheating, did not steal and certainly was not dealing drugs). Was it legal for him to read her messages?

NCLB policy for schools not meeting AYP standards

My child attends a school that didn't meet AYP standards last year. We received a letter stating that we had the right to request

a transfer to a school w/in the distric that had met their AYP stds. I would like to request a specific school which I know has openings. Will my request based on the Federal Intervention Progarm policy be treated the same as other intra-district transfer requests that my district receives? Can my child be bumped from their spot after being accepted to the new AYP-conforming school if new ''neighborhood'' students arrive later in the year (the cutoff date in our district for being ''bumped'' is the end of Oct.)?

I asked the district and they said the NCLB act allows me to request a school that passed AYP standards. However, the district can decide exactly which of the qualifying schools to send my child to. And they said I'd be in the same boat as all the other intra-district transfer requests (kind of a ''get in line, and know you may be bumped even after your let in'' response).

Thank you for clarifying as soon as possible. Lots of change is happening district-wide, and clarity on this subject will be very helpful.

Legal recouse school district?

In second grade my mother tried to get me a tutor for school but because exact dates of missing school was unknown, I was denied. I had Cancer.

In eighth grade my mother was told I could do the work but I didnt apply myself. She had asked for testing to be done to see if I had a learning disability. Denied.

I received numerous treatments of radiation to my brain as a child.

In eleventh grade a teacher decided to have me tested for learning disabilities.

I have a learning disability.

Is there any legal recourse I can now take against the school district for not helping me as a child? This has impacted my life greatly, I read at a second grade level among other things! Thank you!

discriminated in high school

my son has adhd, learning dissabilities as well. he got into a lot of trouble last year and was out of school for 6 months. three months in boot camp, three months in rehab. he went back to school this year for one day. he was bullyed and made fun of so bad, now he wants to drop out. school i believe doesnt care. he had a bad reputation. he is trying. he has a right to his education. does the school have to help me figure out how to educate him? im sure they just wish id go away. i would like him tutored at their expense.(my tax money) he cannot go to another district, and emotionally cannot stay in his home school. the kids are brutal. i have a meeting on tuesday. i really need advice. ty.

suspend from private school

My son is 3 and half year old and my daughter she is 5 year old.

Both are start going to same private school son in perk and daughter kindergarten

My son was going same from 1 and half year.

My daughter was going same school from past 2 and half year.

I start receiving complaint about my son from past 2 week regarding his behavior.

I never received complain before that.

After 2 week passed school suspend both my son and daughter from school.

When I talk to them regarding my daughter why take out from school. They said in our policy you can suspend any student without giving reason.

Please advice me what to do?

My son's 10th grade Hon. Chem & Hon. Geometry teachers did not recommend him for Hon. Physics & Analysis because of 27+ days' absence. IEP provides supportive tutoring.

LEA's position is that the classes are a piviledge, not FAPE. Thus they have no legal obligation to provide the Hon. classes.

Is it worth it to fight this placement? (He has been placed in college-prep courses)

pa rking fees legal on public property?

I live in upstate ny and pay school taxes, my son has just become a senior and gotten his license. As we live within a mile of the school he is a designated walker by our school district, I would like him to be able to drive to school. Now the school is requiring he pay a 15 dollar fee for a parking permit. Is this legal? I already pay taxes for transportation he is not able to use, now it seems they are requiring him to walk as they are prohibiting him from parking without us paying an additional fee. Any advice would be appreciated. thanks.

I served weekends in jail for a year and three years probation, I believe this was a felony and was in the state of Georgia.....I know my right to vote was taken, is this right restored after a certain length of time.....

School cell phone ban legality

My school district just placed a new ban on cell phones that allows them to confiscate them until the end of the year if students are seen in possession of them. There's been a minor outcry that giving the schools the power to keep them for so long is borderline illegal.

Are the schools allowed to take phones away for such an extended period of time, or is this perfectly fine?

Universities right to change a degree program in midstream.

I am a student at a University taking courses for an Associates of Science in Computer Networking. Our Degree Program was changed without our consent. The University is a private University. We lost some critical classes that were the majority reason of why we were willing to pay the extra for the Degree. Those classes were eliminated, and our Degree was changed. What recourse do we possibly have as far as continuing with the classes we agreed to take.

University Claim

University claims $2200 for unattended classes. Actually I did not register for any class. I just wanted to know about on-line classes and inquired about taking a few classes. Some one at University registered on-line classes. I did not know about registration and I did not attend any classes. Now university and State Education Department asking me money for the unattended classes. What should I do.
