Elderly home repair fraud

My elderly parents are in the process of rennovating a home which will become a primary residence when completed. My husband and I live 1000 miles away from them. We are concerned that a plumbing contractor has coerced them into allowing him to do work on their house that is substandard and without any written or verbal job estimate, no written or verbal contract, and no invoices. My step-father is 80 yrs. old, mother is 70. Both are not in very good health. The plumber sent a handwritten bill for over $19,000. My husband has talked to him on the phone and via email. We have requested all written documentation from him (estimate, contract, invoices), and he has become very beligerent and has not provided any of that. He stated that his ''word is his bond and his contract''. We have refused to pay unless he provides the proper paperwork. He has just sent a late notice to my parents. What are our rights in this case? Thank you very much for your guidance.

Land Contract

I am considering the purchase of a small piece of property. The owner is offering financing with an unrecorded land contract and note. How can I protect myself in this purchase?

No help from siblings

My mother has alzheimer's and together she and I had a revocable trust memorandum made, naming my siblings and I as beneficiaries. I am also her POA. Can I change the trust memorandum leaving a specific sibling out?

Hi,Thank you so much for the fast reply.I have called probate and they said they have nothin on the will.So I have no idea where to go next except contact an attorney and see if i can file and demand to have the will opened to me.But I do know that there was a will.Do you think i should do this?

Hi,I have a legal question about my dads will.I was told from my step mother that he had one and i was named in it.Well she said she took it too probate court a lil over a month ago and i have heard nothin from her or the probate court.She has stopped answerin calls and the door from us when we come over.Can I get an attorney and file for a child half on my dads estate.He was worth pretty much and had lots of personal belongings.I am in need of some real advice?He passed away suddenly on June 6,08 and i haven' gotten anything of his and i was very close to my dad and he was only married to this lady for about 4 yrs.She told me she wanted to protect herself from us takin anything she and my dad had worked hard for.Can you tell me where i should turn next???I would really appreciate your help.Thank you Dennis

If a house is on tax lien, and ordered to be auctioned by the court system, can I go to the County Clerks office and pay the taxes to get the deed before it is auctioned?

Land mess!!

Four family members own 1/4 interest in 775 acres. Three want to get out of the deal. They have to offer their part to the remaining owner first at FMV. This price cannot be agreed on and the way the land is going to be split up can't be agreed on either. What is the outcome when this goes to court?

is a probate necessary

My grandmother is the sole heir to her cousin's estate. She had no debts besides the monthly utility payments. If her is estate is in probate, how long should this take and if someone or company comes forward stating there is a debt to collect will this delay processing the will. My grandmother is trying to put this past her as soon as possible. Any suggestions?

Mobile Home Title

I purchase a mobile home from a mobile home dealer who went bankrupt a few month after purchase. I continued to pay and have paid in full, but the will not release the title.
