I gave a car that I paid off to a co-worker who has moved to a different state. Since the move she has not made a payment to me. Before she left i had her sign a promissory note for payment and since may 12th I have recieved nothing. How can I go aboout collecting through the court on this? I also stated in the promissory not that her address was to be provided to me but I had to go through a search for ss# on the computer and pay a fee to recieve this info. a total of $ 3200 is what I am owed with intreset and fees.

You can certainly sue the individual in Small Claims Court. Depending upon the County you are in, the Small Claims clerks are generally very helpful in filling out the correct forms, and making you aware of the options you have to serve the individual. The difficulty you may have is collecting the money once you have a judgment - an out of state debtor is going to be more difficult to collect from, but you can turn a judgment over to a collection agency and they will do the work for you (for a fee).
