Hello,

A website offers a service that supposedly allows one to prevent others from viewing one's credit reports. However, I checked their record and found a slew of customer complaints.

Can one legitimately set up a coding system so that no one else can view one's credit reports?

This is an issue for me because I have a dishonest relative who years ago tampered with my credit. I already have daily credit monitoring but that still wouldn't stop someone with my information from viewing my reports.

Curious

I know of no way to stop creditors from viewing your credit report. If you are concerned about your privacy, you can obtain your credit report and see under inquiries who has viewed your credit report. If someone has accessed your credit report without your authorization, you may have a cause of action under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. You can also place a fraud alert on on your file with the major credit reporting agencies.
