Pedestrian accident, process/compensation?
My boyfriend got hit by a car, he was knocked out unconcious for 3 hours and suffered from a concussion. The person that hit him was arrested with a DUI, Assault III and a hit and run. She was set at $37,500 bail amount. My boyfriend now has a neck injury and definitely needs to seek medical help to fix this. What exactly are we supposed to do? Contact the DMV or the jail/county? We were also wondering how much he would be compensated for. We have never had this happen before, and don't know anyone that has. So we need help! Thank you for any advice that you can give!
Re: Pedestrian accident, process/compensation?
You should definitely contact an attorney immediately. You have a very significant claim for damages against the driver and the driver's insurance company. You should not agree to any offer given to you by the insurance company or sign any papers they give you, without discussing it with an attorney who specializes in personal injury cases.
I do not handle cases like this but Greg Kafoury and Mark McDougal (in Portland) do. You can reach them at [email protected] They take cases on a contingency basis, which means you do not pay for their services unless they win money for you.
