Small Claims Jurisdiction

A customer gave me a bad check that has bounced 2 times. After many promises it has still not been collected. I mailed via certified mail a demand letter for payment of bad check giving the customer 30 days. This has now passes with no payment.. I want to file in small claims court. The check was mailed to Napa California by a customer in Maryland. can I file here???

Re: Small Claims Jurisdiction

You can file here. The problem: you can't serve an out of state defendant. You need to file a limited jurisdiction case.

For more on small claims court, email me at [email protected] for my free ebook that will explain this in more detail.
