My daughter traveled abroad, a fellow student has tested positive for Covid 19 and she was with him(not in close proximity 4 days prior to his testing. She is now home and has no symptoms, nor do I.
I work in health care and my employer out of an abundance of caution has required me to stay home for 14 days and are making me use my own PTO for compensation. Is this legal?
Agree. There is no law on this yet. If they could do it for a health reason before, they can do it now. The state and federal governments need to address a whole lot of issues about people's income and bills, but we have to be patient for those solutions. They are swamped hourly.
Yes this is legal. Although as we move forward with this crisis issues like this may be addressed by further legislation. Keep in mind COVID19 is an unprecedented public health emergency and the law will be playing catchup on it for awhile.
LEGALLY, your employer is not required to pay you at all unless you are at work performing work. Since this would technically be "sick leave" how and when your employer can require PTO depends on their policies and how they interact with sick leave policies at your job. Generally, since PTO isn't required at all by law, an employer can place restrictions on its use such as requiring ALL time out of work to use PTO as long as it's available. If this is part of how they meet their "sick leave" policies, this would be covered and they can require you to use it. An employer can also legally prohibit you from working in these circumstances.

How long do I have to file a suit?
I broke my ankle years ago...probably 15 now. My cast was made incorrectly by the doctor, causing my arch to fall. I have all kinds of ankle problems now. I went back to that same doctor about pain, etc....and he says that the reason I am having so many issues is because I have no arch on that foot. I was a a child when this injury happened--is there anything I can do about it now?
