Can my landlord raise my rent just because he wants to? When I moved in he didn't even fix up in the place it needed paint in the bathroom and had a broken fixture in there as well. I only took this place because I needed somewhere real quick. I started out paying $575.00 per month last year he raised the rent by $50 now he wants to raise it by $25.

Hello. The general principle is that a landlord may raise rent.A landlord must abide by terms of lease agreements, which are usually made in writing but sometimes are oral agreements with the tenant. Some attorneys are available seven days for emergency legal needs. Many attorneys will confer initially at no charge. Then, if legal work is performed, some attorneys will provide a reduced fee for financial hardship. Some attorneys may also assist you in limited scope manner to conserve legal costs. All the best.
