My current lease ends with this March and I had found a new apartment and had signed the new lease, paid the deposit and paid rent for half of March.
My plan was to move between March 15 and March 31st. However, with the Stay Home order issued in California, moving companies are closed. Given that We don’t know when this will end, what shall i do in my situation?
1. Extending my current lease: i will be paying two rents but living at one
2. Moving to the new apartment: risk to get cited/arrested for violating the governor’s order. Risk of not getting all utilities (electricity, gas, internet) installed/transfered to my new place
Any advice will be appreciated
None of this virus stuff has precedent, so anyone who tells you they're doing more than guessing is pretentious.
My guess, for what it's worth, is that moving residences would be considered pretty essential, and really not risky, as your exposure to others is minimal, if it exists at all. I also guess no one will cite or arrest you for moving during this "safe at home" order, which has tons of exceptions. Review the order and be prepared to make your arguments if accosted.
But of course it's safer to pay two rents if that's a viable option for you.
We have a club that was started by a man (Founder). But after his rude behavier last year we (the club) voted to reject him from the club. He now thinks that he can return and claim everything that the club has built since his absence. Can he do that?
