Adoption

My 11 year old son has never been legitimated by his birth father, nor is his birth father's name on the birth certificate. The father and I were never married and we never lived together. My son has not seen his birth father in over two years. I have been married to another man for the last three years and we have another child together. My husband wishes to adopt my son. Is there a way for him to adopt my son without involving the birth father? We are sure that if he is contacted, the birth father will contest. Currently he does not know where we live, and I would like to keep it that way. My son has special needs that his birth father does not understand and his birth father has been a very negative influence with pornography and other things that have given my son continuous nightmares. My son does not want to see him and says he wants my husband to be his ''only daddy''. How can I spare my son the mess of a contested adoption but make sure that his birth father cannot try to take him, especially if something were to happen to me? Thank you.

cancellation of contract

I had signed a contract for a gym membership on 8/28/08. The contract states one may cancel the contract within 3 business days after receiving the contract. This makes today the last day I can cancel. Today(9/2/08) I attempted to cancel this contract. The owner stated that this was not possible and that Saturday and Sunday are business days also because they are open on them. The contract, however, does not state this.

false accused of cheating

I have been falsely accused by the

Instructor of cheating. He said I had

prior knowledge of the FINAL exam

and found me guilty before he even

talked to me. I took the final exam

on Wednesday night. I was notified

by email from the Instructor saying I

had prior knowledge of the exam

because I talked to student a hour

before the exam. The student I

talked to got caught cheating.

However, I found guilty because he

visually observed me talking to the

cheating student one hour before

the exam started. As a result, I

have received a F in the class. The

instructor did not hear our

conversation. The exam was on

wednesday. I did not received the

email from the instructor until three

days later(Saturday). The school is

not listening to me. I am poor

student who needs free legal

assistance.
