I have to pay 508(b) attorney fees and wage garnished child support of which i am currently appealing however due to the coronavirus pandemic my employment has been significantly affected and i am going to be laid off or furlough making paying rent difficult much less attorney fees. So i do not go to jail or am forced to pay more fees i am wondering what protocol does the law/court have in place for situation(s) as this.
There is no protocol in place for your situation at this time. I am confident however that interest of 9% will continue to accrue on the 508(b) attorney fee judgment.
Sounds like 508 (b) fees were entered because you failed to pay support for whatever reason, and you say you are appealing whatever that means. For right now, I would email a motion to modify support. There will be no court at least through 4-15-20.
The government is developing relief programs as I write.
