My employer gave me the option to stay employed but mandated 8 weeks unpaid. Can I file unemployment for those 8 weeks?
You should immediately apply for unemployment. The normal one week waiting period for unemployment is waived for Coronavirus related reductions in hours or work stoppages.
If this is due to the present virus concerns, yes, and you can start receiving it right away as the waiting period normally required has been waived.
