My visa is currently sponsored by my employer. The CFO commited a crime against my son-in-law. This CFO is also our landlord (my son-in-law and my daughter live with me) and cuts my checks. However, I don't feel comfortable working for my current employer given that my son-in-law was assaulted. This incident, we've learned, is not isolated and me and my husband are assisting in compiling victim testimony. My visa is up for renewal very soon. Can I apply for a U Visa under these circumstances?

Legal Fee Dispute
Question:
I've recently received a substantial settlement in a lawsuit. However, a previous attorney whom I fired is refusing to sign the Settlement Release, and is demanding that he first be paid $11,000 which he feels I still owe him (even though he was fired). He's lucky I didn't personally sue him for malpractice. My current attorney who was successfully able to win my case, wants to file a ''Motion to Adjudicate'' his absurd fees. However, I'm not sure that this would be best for me, or if I should instead personally file a complaint against this lawyer with the ARDC and Committee for Fee Arbitration.
Therefore, my question is ...
If a client should have his current attorney file a Motion to Adjudicate the fees of a previous attorney, and the the motion is denied by the judge for whatever reason, can that client still proceed as an atlernative thereafter, to file a formal complaint with the ARDC and the Fee Arbitration Committee, in a second attempt to expunge theat lawyers bogus fees? Or, if the judge in the Adjudication Hearing denies our motion to adjudicate the fees, is that a final decision, with no other alternatives to pursue thereafter?
Thanks You
Parent's estate left 2 siblings property equally six years ago. At probate we decided not to sell, for the market had just collapsed, so property is in both our names. We talked about ways to divide property as equitably as possible at the time, but one sibling wanted to wait for newest tax assessment on one piece of land. It did not come until 3 years later, at which time the property's value went down 50% so now the original split is not anywhere close to being equitable.
The sibling that wanted to wait is now threatening a lawsuit, saying that the original oral agreement for dividing property has been broken.
Are discussions considered an actual oral agreement/contract? There were never any real details discussed and I never felt it to be a contract at the time, but he is now pressuring to have quit claim deeds signed or he will take me to court for a broken oral agreement. Can he do this? What should I do?
