My husband is still paying child support and his 16yo son has been living here with us for the last 6 months. He has tried and tried to get a hold of DHS and lawyers in INdianola Iowa and they will not drop it. he has signed papers and faxed them to DHS like he was told and they still wont drop it. What now, we cannot afford a lawyer especially now since Coronavirus and he is laid off now from work.
If there is a case in Court concerning his child support obligation and he cannot afford to hire a lawyer, he has the option of filing a petition to modify child support for reason of the change in the child's residence representing himself. The Polk County Bar Association also has a Volunteer Lawyer Project. You could contact them and see if they can find a lawyer to take his case for free.
He’ll need a court order changing custody and support. Hiring an attorney is a good idea.
Perhaps he can contact Iowa Legal Aid for an attorney to help modify the child support order?
I was trying to buy a condomenium and signed and paid the ernest money to the seller. About 2 weeks ago I found out that my condo HMO is exercising there ROFR and seller reached to me asking to terminate the contract. I was really pissed off because me and my agent spent a lot of time and money in trying to buy this property.
My agent contacted a lawyer and he got all the condo disclosure document from seller attorney and he read the disclosure document of HMO and found that HMO do not have there ROFR listed in disclosure document thus HMO cannot exercise ROFR. This point was raised by attorney to seller's attorney and seller's attorney acknowledge the point.
Seller is still interested in selling the property to me and request me to sign the contract extension in hope to close it in another 2 weeks.
I was told by my attorney that he talked to seller attorney and they plan to give HMO's attorney another 1 week to respond if they see any further issues.
Now what should I do in this situation?
If seller goes ahead and sells the property to me, will HMO have any right to go after me?
Will I be having to deal with any legal hassles after buying such a property?
What are some of things I should in such situation?
Thanks
Cost and the prenup
I am looking at getting married for the 2nd time. I have a child and want to ensure the equity and 401k I have built already doesn't all go to my future wife in the event of death or divorce. Can a prenup do this and what should I expect to pay. Any advice on good affordable lawyers in SE WI would be great. Parties are Jason Stielow and Christine Mundt
