My husband has early dementia and I have power of attorney over his money, etc. His judgement is slowing. I believe another man is taking advantage of him. Like a loan shark. I was told he is charging my husband 100% for loans. My husband is being secretive and is telling me to stay out of it. Isn't there some type of law against taking advantage of the elderly or ill in a case like this? He still has access to his checking account for now. The man is a friend of his .

Unfortunately, this happens frequently to the elderly. I suggest that you talk to an experienced attorney. There are attorneys that deal in elder law. Find one in your area.

You might also talk to someone in Adult Protective Services.

Your problems are too extensive to try to resolve in an email.

I hear your problem frequently and your family needs counseling and guidance. You might want to talk to a social worker that works with the elderly too.

You might want to talk to the United Way in your area for suggestions about resources in your area.
