The police officer that arrested me said I'm eligible for Court supervision. I don't want to hire an attorney since I'm pleading guilty. Do I have to sign a form saying that I'm applying for Courts supervision or will I be able to request it on the first day of court.
You really should hire an experienced criminal defense attorney to assist you with this matter just to make sure no mistakes are made. The money you spend now on an attorney could save you in the long run.
You can ask for it but the state and the judge have to agree. Supervision is not automatic. Cops are not legally trained to understand the law. Not a good source of information.
I would go to the first hearing and if they offer supervision and you think you are fully aware of the legal ramifications of supervision now as well as in the future, accept it. And then hope you understand what successful completion of supervision requires. And realize that even with supervision your license will be suspended for 6-12 months.
