A test was given with the following grading criteria: benchmark 75%, 50 points awarded if the benchmark is met the 1st test. If you fail to meet the benchmark the first time, you can retake the test and receive 25 points if the benchmark is met.

After all results are in the following Monday, the instructor announces that the benchmark was changed to 70 and those who scored 70 the 1st test are awarded 50 points. I scored 68 the 1st test and 78 the 2nd test. How fair is it that a student who scored 70 both times never meeting the original benchmark receives a full 50 points. In all fairness to everyone who failed to originally meet the benchmark of 75 the 1st test, wouldn't it have been fair for the department to say: seeing how difficult it was to reach the original benchmark we will award 50 points to all who meet 70% the 2nd test. This gives everyone a fair chance at receiving the 50 points. A change was made to accomodate only some students and not all. Is this worth fighting for considering those 50 points helped students pass the entire course while others failed?

I have just been charged with a felony and misdemeanor as a minor. The felony is identity theft and the misdemeanor is electronic harassment. I had used someone else's name to send a particularly nasty letter to a teacher. A cop had come to my school and asked me a series of questions, where prior to them, he had read my Miranda rights. I had verbally confessed to the crime and through the school signed a statement describing what had transpired. My court date is in a few months, but my question is concerning the degree to which this affects my future as a legal citizen. I have heard from several sources that my charges, soon to be convictions, would be sealed. I was wondering the degree of truth to this statement, what a sealed conviction entails, and if I am applicable for expungement, or if it is needed.

My 8 year old daughter was denied an Interdistrict Transfer Request to the school she currently attends (for the 2010/2011 school year) as ...."our Special Education program is impacted so we are not able to approve your request".

She has been at this school for a year now and her IEP with this school district runs out in November of 2011.

Her twin sister WAS admitted back to the school for next year as an Interdistrict Transfer and she does NOT have an IEP.

Can a school district not admit her based upon her having an IEP?

This is perhaps not a standard question, but I would like the opinion of professionals in the field. I am currently considering persuing my AS degree in paralegal studies. How vital is it that the program I attend be ABA approved? The school I am considering is a fully accredited California Community College, and this would be a complete AS degree. However, they are not ABA approved. On the other hand they require more units in the fare of study than do college that are ABA approved.

As professional how significant is it that I attend an ABA approved program?

Hello. My fourth grader is taking a class field trip tomorrow. Because parent "Smith" has a grudge against parent "Jones," and demanded that parent Jones no be allowed to take photos on the filed trip, the principal has decided that no parent will be allowed to take photographs on this trip.

Can a principal legally prohibit parent chaperones from photographing their own children on a school field trip? It's a private (Catholic) school.
