Hello,

My name is Kait, and coming up is my senior year of high school. I've been training for upcoming volleyball try outs for the past summer until it was recently brought to my attention that I might not be eligible to play any sport this year because of a rule in my school district. "Students who are on their fifth consecutive year of high school are ineligible for all sports." However they do take "special cases". For example, time off school for family, medical, ect reasons.

I studied abroad my junior year in Germany with rotary youth exchange, and due to the rigorous curriculum of German high schools, and my lack of adequate language (in the beginning), I made the decision to repeat a year of school to better prepare myself for college.

It was decided that since I made the decision to go to Germany and repeat a year (and that nothing "out of my control" had prevented me from completing my high school in 4 years) that I could not play any sport my senior year.

Keep in mind:

*I've only played high school volleyball for two full years. This upcoming year would be my third.

*I have a 3.75 UW GPA in mostly advanced courses.

*I entered the program and went to Germany thinking that I would get my year abroad to count as my Junior year. I changed my mind later on.

*I am 18 years old. And I will be 18 years old when I graduate high school next year.

This rule was created to prevent drop outs from playing sports and being older than 18 and also as a restriction to those athletes that are held back a year.

I want to appeal this decision and hire a lawyer to make a case in front of the school board. Do you think that I would have a case against something like this?

I am a student at Bergen community college in NJ. I am on the verge of graduating but I am being denied a degree that I have completed because I was never technically registered for it and the catalog year for it was 2012-2013.

The program is still being offered to those who were grandfathered into it by declaring it before on in fall 2012.

What do I do now. I invested so much time time that I will never get back and it has been all for nothing because some counselor coldly said the deadline has passed.

News of registering for this program or the fact that it was going to expire was never said to me. The program catalog is still listed on their webadvisor under the words. What if I changed my program of study? next to a list of the options including the degree that I applied for. It was never indicated anywhere that the last day to register for this program was.... Whenever, because it doesn't say and no body knows when it actually expired.

I also prior to these complications spoke to academic advisors about my options and was told that this was an option.

I received contradicting statements, poor guidance, and I invested 3 years as a part time student working a steady job on the side for a degree I am being denied,(that is still being rewarded to those who have not even finished what I have finished) because of the word closed. This is so cold and I feel extremely cheated of my time and my trust in this so called educational establishment. I am set to complete the program June 28 after this final in progress class is taken care of. I put in my time, Passed all my classes, and IM being denied because its easier to say sorry its closed rather then to officially recognize my accomplishment, my investment, my future.

Educational Malpractice:I have graduated from a medical school in the Caribbean ( a private establishment, owned by a U.S based for profit Inc.) in 2004. The school has failed to prepare me for the United States medical licensing Examination as promised ,which made me struggle to pass these exams because I had to learn everything from scratch on my own. After finally passing the exams in 2008 ( 4 years after graduation), the school Dean provided me with a letter that didn't justly portrait my true performance as a student ( inaccurate information) which made it even harder for me to obtain a post graduate medical training ( residency) spot in the U.S. which is the only way I can qualify to practice as a physician. Eventually, I decided to pursue a post graduate training post outside the U.S in hope to practice. I moved overseas where they requested an attested copy of my medical diploma in order to be able to sit for the admission exam for their post graduate training program!! I contacted my school as early as of December of 2008 to request that my degree be attested from the government of the island where the school is located. The school agreed to attest the degrees for me. it has been more than 4 years now and they haven't done so yet!!! they kept coming up with different excuses every few months with new promises to help me out and kept transferring me from one official to the other. I lost all hope in practicing as a physician due the schools' total lack of professionalism and total disregard to my case. Two months ago, one of the school employees asked me to send her the diploma which I have in my possession so she can finally mail me the new authenticated one and so I did. When I asked her why I have to mail her my old diploma, she claimed that " it's illegal for me to have two copies of my diploma"?!!! Unfortunately, The issue doesn't end there. the school is yet to send me the new diploma, so i am left with no diplomas at all right now!!! Can I sue my school ? and what are my chances of wining. I have kept a record of all my contact with school to prove my case!!
