California EDD Court Fees

Four (4) months ago I was informed by EDD that I was overpaid $504.40 in unemployment benefits in 2005. I received an ''account summary'' dated 9/13/07 which added $213.00 in court fees and $23.80 in ''pre-judgement interest''. We never went to court. Do I have any rights?

Re: California EDD Court Fees

Call up EDD and ask how they could charge for fees required by the Superior Court if no action was every filed. They may telt you they did file and tried to serve you. Did the notice 4 months before say what they would do if you did not respond? Next time, deal with the problem and do not attempt to duck it unless you know the complaining person will drop it after a while.
