Camera in computer lab
A local housing committee was planning to put cameras in the dorm computer lab.
I didn't think you can have cameras in compters labs, last I knew, they are a constitutional violation (4th amendment) of reasonable expectation of privacy, much in the same way that cameras in restrooms are.
Is that correct, or am I missing something?

There is an overriding issue here.
Principally, the security of the student and the computers. In most cases in a college dorm there is little expectation of privacy similar as in the home.
The school is looking out for your safety as they can be sued if something happens to you as a student. This I believe is their basis for doing this.
