Free Mammography Screening in FL

I was under the impression that in Florida women over 50 yrs are entitled to one free mammogram every 12 months. I recently had a mammogram screening at a local radiologist (in my Aetna network). I was not charged on my way out, but received a bill from their central billing office in NY for a $45 co-pay. The facility itself, Radiology Imaging Associates of Stuart (RIA) wouldn't even take my $45 and advised that annual mammograms are free in Florida. They told me to call my insurance company and relay this to them, which I have not yet done. I never paid a co-pay for a mammogram at other facilities in the past (different insurance - BCBS). Does anyone have some info on this subject before I call the insurance company? Thank you

Re: Free Mammography Screening in FL

I have not heard of any such provision. Whether a particular procedure will be performed without a co-pay is an issue to ask the insurance company.
