Guardianship vs POA

My aunt has guardianship of my grandmother, but a state appointed company has POA. What is the difference and what is each responsible for? My aunt's main problem with the company is they have run through my grandmother's saving ($180,000 plus) in less then six months. She doesn't know where the money is going because they are not reimbursing her for the expences she incurrs taking care of grandma and now they want to sell my grandma's home and auction off everything in it. She is trying to get POA but so far the judge won't give it to her because another aunt is currently awaiting trial in abusing my grandma funds.

Re: Guardianship vs POA

If there is court-appointed guardian, the appointing court should be made aware of the problem. Also, a POA would not have authority to act once a court appoints a guardian. You may also wish to contact Adult Protective Services for investigation of the funds.
