illegal tapes
If someone has taped recorded your conversations and has those tapes in their position and you were recorded without your knowledge and what was said is now being used as a threat to destroy that persons career and childrens lives what can be done to get those tapes or press any kind of charges against that individual. He threatens to use those tapes to destroy me if I tell someone about his adultry. My question is how can I get those tapes and can I press charges is it blackmail what are my legal rights since I was the one recorded without my knowledge.

Black mail is a crime, you may also seek injunctive relief to have the tapes returned (potentially) all this is wholly dependant on the content of the tapes, the legality of what was discussed, and several other factors.
