Medicaid & Property

My 86 year old Mother in law is currently in a skilled nursing facility with the posibility of having to go on medicaid. My question involves her home and property. The home is listed in her name and her sons name as record of owners. it has been this way for over 8 years. Will this property have to be sold leaving her son homeless for her to go on medicaid?

Re: Medicaid & Property

Probably not, however, your should contact an Elder Law attorney to advise you specifically after you give them all of the facts. Medicaid guidelines can be difficult to interpret and an attorney may be able to help you protect some of the assets.
