probate

my father recently passed&left me executor of his estate,he left a modest sum of money in the bank, however the bank wont release funds until i show them a ''letter of testamentary''?from probate court, therefore i have to take will to probate court&get siblings to sign waivers etc...anyways..is this something i an handle or should i hire an attourney...who will probably charge me way too much...the lawyer who wrote the will wants 600.00 to file the will in probate, however the money in the bank is just 3400.00...anyways seems like a waste of money if can do it myself

Re: probate

$600 is cheap for what you will be getting and besides, you can't do this yourself. Your attorney is assuming a great deal of professional liability in this case and part of his/her fee is attributable to that expense.
