Question: Will I encounter issues at the border when visiting the US in December?

Summary: Entering the US on the Visa waiver program while technically an (expired) green card holder no longer meeting the residency requirements.

Relevant info:

I am a LPR. My green card is expiring in October.

I am in California now but leaving soon and will no longer meet the "residency" requirement to maintain residency (Been traveling a lot on and off past few years).

I will be renewing my (French) passport while abroad, and was thinking of simply coming back on the Visa waiver program in December with the new passport (My daughter is a minor US citizen in California, I visit her every few months.)

Can there be any issues? I am no longer interested in maintaining US residency.

If there are any possible issues, what is the least paperwork-intensive way of resolving them?

Thanks!

As a French citizen you can enter US on a visa waiver program. However, it is only valid for 90 days.
