Return of personal property

My I purchased a motorcyle 3 years ago and needed my now ex-boyfriend to co-sign for me. I have made every payment on the bike myself and the bike has always been in my possesion. Two weeks ago he came into the garage in my house and took the bike and locked it in his house. I called the police and filed a report but they say there is nothing they can do, hire a lawyer. He is now in jail for a DUI and he refuses to let me have my bike back. What should I do?

Re: Return of personal property

If all he was was a co-signer I suspect the police would have helped. I am guessing that he is also on the title. If so, the police are correct. You will have to file a lawsuit to clear the title and get your motorcycle back.
