I just started working full-time (40 hours/week) for an employer in January 2020 under a temp-to-hire contract through a recruiting firm. My paychecks came weekly and I will get a W-2 from them. I was just let go on Monday because the company laid employees off due to the coronavirus. I earned well above the qualifying amount during that time. In the fourth quarter of last year, I worked similarly with another company through a recruiting firm full-time and will get a W-2 for that job (the same for all other quarters of last year). In the fourth quarter of last year I earned well above the qualifying amount also.
Do I qualify to file unemployment in this circumstance, given that I didn't work at the company who let me go for more than two months? And if so, do I use my previous wages from other employers to file this claim?
I've called EDD several times but can't speak to a person, so thought I'd ask here.
Thank you
Best way to find out is to apply for EDD benefits. Be honest on the application and wait to see what happens. Goodluck.
