A family member asked for a place to stay for 1 month while looking for an apartment. Needless to say that was nearly 15 years ago and she wont leave. Now that the virus is hitting our area, I've asked her to stay in the house she she has no reason to leave. She refuses and goes out every day to walk around Walmart, dollar stores and hangs out at food pantries where she has no reason to go to anyway. I have an immune disease and her coming in to the home without washing her hands or keeping clean isn't good. This virus can kill me if I get it. I'm not leaving the house but it's not helping w this person in and out and hanging out with uncleanly people. Are there any laws that I'm not aware if that would give me a legal right to remove her until this is over without going through a full eviction process? She has 2 other family members that will take her short term but she refuses to leave. Thanks for your time.
Unfortunately, you have to treat this like a landlord-tenant relationship. That means you have to go through the formal eviction process, although you may be able to get an EMERGENCY order of possession because of your medical situation.
Good luck!
