i was arrested in 1994 for criminal impersonation. i had a drivers license in some one else's name. i paid a fine in court, but was never notified by the dmv about anything. i acquired my license a few weeks later in my real name, and now after 24 years, the dmv is saying that they are going to revoke my license
The DMV is an administrative agency and doesn't give a rat's @$$ about what the court does with a criminal case. You falsified your application to get the phony license, and now they have facial recognition software which matched you up to the phony license from 24 years ago. And if you are thinking "Statute of Limitations," think again. The DMV is an administrative agency, not a court of law. They can nail you for as long as they want. However, you are entitled to a due process hearing in which you can contest the revocation. This is your ONE AND ONLY chance NOT to get revoked, and the revocation can be permanent. As such, it would behoove you to retain counsel who is conversant in DMV Administrative Law to represent you in the due process hearing.
