got 3 tickets on Sept 1 2016. Dui, failure to maintain lane and speeding 55 in a 45..... I went to jail and they did bloodwork.... I just found out tonight that I have a warrant for failure to appear. On my tickets it has that the court date would be discussed at a later time. I never received a court date. Granted it has been almost 2 years I have since gotten divorced, and moved out of my house. I have changed my address on my license but I still never received a court date. The warrant was issued on May 16, 2018. What am I looking at? Someone please help I am terrified.
You may be able to have the bench warrant recalled for the failure to appear. Hire a local lawyer, walk in at a regular scheduled court date, have your new address in hand to be updated with the court but be prepared to be arrested and possibly post a new bond.
You definitely need to hire an attorney. You are required to update your address with the court. Updating your address on your driver's license doesn't, unfortunately, update your address in the court system. But you may be able to resolve the bench warrant without going to jail, depending on the court in which the case is pending. But definitely hire someone ASAP. Feel free to give me a call.
