The time limit to sue (statute of limitations or SOL) varies from state to state. However, if your question is whether it is unusual for someone to make a claim with the insurer two years after the wreck, then no this is not unusual so long as lawsuit is commenced within the SOL. In Utah, the statute of limitations for auto accidents is four years with limited exceptions. Injured people typically need to have their injuries treated and allow time to pass before competent opinions can be obtained about what the future holds for the injured person. Sometimes it takes years to get a good idea of whether/how injuries will affect people in the future.

A notation at the bottom of this page reads "... no responses on this forum constitute legal advice, which must be tailored to the specific circumstances of each case. You should not act upon information provided in Justia Ask a Lawyer without seeking professional counsel from an attorney admitted or authorized to practice in your jurisdiction …" . So, in my opinion, "Only members of the Georgia Bar may opine on a matter of Georgia law" is not quite correct. But indeed you should ask your question in Justia > Ask a Lawyer > Georgia; you're more likely to get an answer.

Because you are writing from Florida, you post is being viewed by attorneys who subscribe to Justia posts coming out of Fla., so the odds are against your post reaching a Georgia attorney. Only members of the Georgia Bar may opine on a matter of Georgia law. However, the question of "how likely is a lawsuit to happen" is not a question on the law, UNLESS you mean, "What is the statute of limitations for car accident suits in Georgia?" You can probably learn the answer to that question with some Google research, or by calling any Georgia personal injury attorney.
