My injury occurred outside of work but is affecting my ability to work. My doctor has me on reduced shifts and a treatment plan, my employer is reducing my pay, switching me from salary to hourly and causing me to lose my medical plan, is there anything I can do?
I'm sorry for your injury. If you arranged a consult with a personal injury attorney in the state where this occurred, you could learn whether you have certain legal rights as a result of the accident. Most attorneys in this area offer free initial consults. Not every accident means that someone is liable for your injuries (there are not details to go on here) and that you have a valid case. But a discussion with an attorney should enable you to determine that. If this had occurred in the course of employment, it would have been a different matter, and possibly covered under workers' comp law. As far as the work-related issues here such as reduced pay and loss of medical plan, try to see if an employment attorney in the state where this happened could offer you a free initial consultation. If you have a case, which isn't clear from the facts above, it's possible that a personal injury attorney and employment law attorney might need to coordinate their efforts together on your behalf. Good luck

harassment case
My son has a misdemeanor 3 case pending in criminal court. He just received a letter from his public defender stating the case will come up sometime between March 2-15 no exact date or time. The problem is we are going on vacation the first week. We have tried to contact the Public Defender to see if it can be scheduled the 2nd week but she hasn't called back all week. What can we do?

independent contractor injured
I am a general contractor. I hired a company to do painting. The sub-contractor pays his employee. Can I be held responsible for workers comp. if the employee is injured on the job? Can I get a blanket workers comp. policy to cover me?
