my father has cancer and has been taking oxycontin. his oldest son from a previous marriage picked up my dad from my parents home to see if he would feel better there. Now suddenly my fathers cell phone is off and his emails are screened by my older siblings, they had his mail forwarded to my brothers address so the bills etc. my mom doesnt get. my mom has had to open a new checking account because my siblings have taken full control even though my mom is fully capable. I this legal and what can I do to prevent them from taking everything my mom has worked so hard for?

Is your father competent to make his own decisions? If he is, there is little that you can do, and your mother will likely need to speak with a family law lawyer.

If you believe your father is the subject of undue influence or a victim of elder abuse, you need to speak with a lawyer who practices in this area.

There is likely nothing you can do on your own. You may wish to speak to a local senior center, or call adult protective services.
