We have all of our assets divided except for our home which is in both names. How can we make sure our home will not be fully taken if one of us goes to a nursing home and that spouse runs out of money? What do we need to do to keep it so medicaid cannot take it from the surviving spouse?

Your home will not be taken. The remaining spouse has a right to keep the house. When you run out of money for private payment, you can apply for Medicaid. There is a schedule, depending on how much money you both have, as to how much must be spent before Medicaid will apply.
